Level 7: Web Development is a comprehensive, hands–on certification programme focused on equipping learners with the skills to create professional and responsive websites. Through this modular programme, learners explore key areas of web development, including mastering HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and interactive web design techniques. The modules cover essential topics such as website structure, styling, and client–side scripting, providing learners with a well–rounded foundation in both technical coding and creative web design.

This flexible programme allows learners to progress at their own pace, developing core technical skills while working on real–world projects. By completing the modules, learners will deepen their understanding of front–end development, enhance their problem–solving abilities, and gain the confidence to build modern, interactive websites. This course prepares learners for further exploration into specialised areas such as web design, user experience (UX), and digital innovation, empowering them to succeed in the ever–evolving world of web development.

There are four modules:

Core modules:

• Module 1: WDV8745 – Beginning HTML5 and CSS3 – 3 credits

This module introduces learners to the new features and elements of HTML5. As web developers, they will explore the leaner, cleaner, and more efficient code now available with HTML5, alongside new tools that enable the creation of richer, more meaningful content. The module also covers the enhanced structural integrity and styling flexibility of CSS3, empowering learners to build more visually appealing pages and smarter content for their web projects.

Through a hands–on approach, learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of HTML5's structural sections and its exciting new capabilities, including the integration of audio and video. With a focus on practical, step–by–step techniques, this module enables learners to apply the new features of HTML5 and CSS3, such as transitions and animations, which are considered by many to be a 'Flash killer'. By the end of the module, learners will have created their first responsive websites and will be equipped to use these advanced web standards in future projects.

• Module 2: WDV1547 – Essential Guide to HTML5 and JavaScript Programming – 3 credits

This module provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of web development, focusing on the key features of HTML5 and JavaScript. It introduces the core concepts of HTML5, including structural elements, multimedia integration, and canvas functionality, alongside the fundamentals of JavaScript such as variables, functions, and event handling.

Learners will apply their knowledge through hands–on projects, building interactive websites and dynamic content. By integrating JavaScript to add interactivity and using the HTML5 framework to create structured, multimedias–rich web pages, learners will gain practical experience in both programming languages. By the end of the module, learners will have developed a solid foundation in HTML5 and JavaScript, equipping them for more advanced web development tasks and reals–world applications.

• Module 3: WDV8785 – Introduction to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript – 3 credits

This module introduces learners to the core technologies used in modern web development: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Learners will explore how HTML tags structure the content of web pages, CSS rules style and layout the content, and JavaScript functions enable interactivity, transforming static pages into dynamic, engaging experiences.

Building on easy–to–follow examples and practical exercises, this module guides learners through creating web pages that display text, images, lists, tables, hyperlinks, forms, audio, and video. Learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of HTML markup, CSS styling, and JavaScript functions, gradually developing the skills needed to create functional and visually appealing websites. The module is designed to appeal to beginners, those wanting to expand their skill set, and students pursuing a career in web development or website design. By the end of this module, learners will have a solid foundation in web development and will be able to create responsive, interactive websites.

• Module 4: WDV2701 – Interactive JavaScript – 3 credits

This module introduces learners to the exciting world of JavaScript game development, where they will explore how to create interactive online games from scratch. Designed for beginners, learners will dive straight into programming with JavaScript—the language used universally across the web. This module takes learners step–by–step through the process of building games, allowing them to bring their creative ideas to life with interactive features and 3D effects.

Through engaging exercises and examples, learners will develop essential programming skills while crafting dynamic games. This module includes updated content and new programming techniques, making it easier than ever to create fun and interactive experiences. Learners will work on practical projects like designing spinning red donuts, star fields, explosions, and even fireworks—all with the power of JavaScript. Using a custom code editor that works directly in the web browser, learners will see their code come to life immediately, fostering a hands–on, fun, and immersive learning experience. By the end of this module, learners will have built several engaging games and gained a strong understanding of JavaScript programming, setting them up for success in game development.

Each module in the Level 7: Web Development certification is assessed through practical projects, coding exercises, and real–world applications, allowing learners to demonstrate their understanding of web development concepts and skills. Upon successful completion of all modules, learners will receive the Adobe Qualified Web & Programming Developer – Level 7 Certification.

There is no Pass or Fail. Results are reported in Bands 1–4, with Band 4 being the highest. Band 1 indicates a limited understanding of web development principles; Band 2 reflects basic knowledge and some application of web technologies; Band 3 demonstrates a solid grasp and practical application of advanced web development skills; and Band 4 signifies comprehensive expertise and mastery of web development techniques.
